Project Description
This project was a WOSB award for the US Air Force with the purpose of updating the existing K5 feeder on Vandenberg Air Force Base. Work included replacing approximately two miles of existing overhead wood pole line with new concrete poles, new copper and new power line insulators. Construction and improvement of access roads to pole not within twenty feet of the main road. Installation of a new service transformer for building 790, 783 and 800, replacement of feeders from power pole to transformer and replacement of all branch circuits from the panel to the load. Work also included installation of new pad mounted transformers for buildings 764, 776, 765 and 789. Demo and removal of existing transformer for buildings 773 and 763, replacement of pole mounted transformers, and install of new riser switch on K5-00/01. Provisions for temporary backup generators as required and demo of the existing poles and line. Work includes install of a new pole mounted transformer (10kVA); replacement of the existing transformer for buildings 760, 761 & 762 with new 300kVA; new conduit to new sectionalizing J-Box to intercept the existing conduit; new underground conductor; relocation of existing pole mount transformer; and installation of primary underground in existing conduit for building 780.
